Linda Cheney Obituary

Linda Mae Cheney, née Maxwell was born to John Maxwell and Willie Mae Maxwell, née Hadley of Dublin, Texas in Erath County on Wednesday, October 27, 1943. She went home to her God in Heaven on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, having brightened the lives of her family, friends, brothers and sisters in Christ, neighbors, coworkers, and many acquaintances for 81 years.

She had an elder half-sister, Angie Bolton, née Maxwell (†). She had five elder brothers: John (†), Roy (†), Joe, Wayne (†), and Larry, and one younger brother, Carl (†).

While married to Tom Nedbalek of Houston, Texas, she gave birth to both Richard Nedbalek and Roxann Shuck. She adored her two grandchildren, Colton and Kayla Shuck, and enjoyed immensely her very short time with her great grandson, Austin Shuck.

The love of her life was Richard "Dick" Neil Cheney, whom she met and wed in the Tri-Cities, and to whom she remained married until her passing 37 years later. Together, they enjoyed successful careers in insurance. She loved each of his four children: Deanna, James, Theresa (†), and Andrew, and very much enjoyed being grandmother to their numerous children.

Dick and Linda travelled and camped extensively in their successively larger trailers for decades. The Oregon Coast and western Washington were their favorite camping destinations. As well, they made trips to Atlanta, Mexico, Texas, Las Vegas, Arizona, Utah, and elsewhere. Linda travelled with friends to Germany as well.

For most all of her life, Linda was accompanied by loyal pet dogs. While all were special, some of the more notable ones included Sissy and Gizmo, and especially Mishka, who remained by her side during her final days.

A child of God, Linda was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. She attended faithfully, believed strongly in the teachings of Jesus, donated to Christian ministries, and organized the clothing and food bank at the Richland congregation.

Never knowing a stranger, and with both a heart and smile as big as her native Texas, Linda would ask you to remember her well, recall a laugh you shared, accept a final hug from her, brighten someone's day, and lighten someone's load today.
