Lester Thompson, 100, was born in Direct, Texas on July 9, 1915 to Robert and Effie Mae Thompson. He went to be with the Lord on Easter Sunday, March 27th, 2016. On September 29, 1937, he married his childhood sweetheart, Lillian Trapp. Together they made their living establishing a successful potato and sugar beet farm and cattle ranch in Malta, Idaho. After moving to Washington in 1978 to support family, he became well known in this town as a charismatic, charming, and sweet southern gentleman. "Big Daddy", as he is known by family and friends, was a superb storyteller. He told stories of picking cotton during his childhood, as well as all the struggles endured by living through The Great Depression. He and Lillian recently celebrated their 78th wedding anniversary. He adored her and took much pride his entire life making sure she was always happy. He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter Rochelle Holtman, as well as siblings, Ray Thompson, Robbie Maupin, and Hazel Burke. He is survived by his wife, Lillian Thompson, sons Nick Thompson and Phil (Susan) Thompson of Kennewick, daughter Sherry (Gordon) Armstrong of New Mexico, siblings Gordon Thompson of Nampa, ID, Margie Humphrey of Twin Falls, ID, and Joyce Disdrow of Kennewick, including far too many to mention grandchildren and their families. Viewing will be held for the family at 11:00am on Wednesday, March 30th at Mueller's Funeral Home in Kennewick, WA with a memorial service to follow, starting at 1:00pm. All are welcome.
