Our mother, Leona M. Briggs, returned to her Heavenly Father on December 13, 2008. She was born in Richardton, North Dakota on October 26, 1925 to John and Lena Palm Schulz. She came to Washington in 1944 where she worked in the shipyards until the war ended. She then moved to Yakima where she met her future husband Curt Briggs; they wed August 3, 1946. They had one son, Gary Briggs. Mom worked in real estate for 31 years where she met and made many, many friends. She then worked for Warehouse Demo at Costco which she enjoyed tremendously until illness forced her to leave. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph's Parish. She is survived by her son Gary Frielah, grandsons Ben Kim and Zak; one great granddaughter Maya; sister Delores Dimmick of Yakima; brothers Buddy Schulz of Richardton, North Dakota, Dick Jeri of Bismarck, North Dakota; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and two brothers. We would like to thank all of the doctors, caregivers, Tri-City Cancer Center and Tri-Cities Hospice for all the kindness and care they gave our mother. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Tri-Cities Cancer Center, St. Joseph's School/Church or Tri-Cities Hospice. Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma ~ we love you and we were blessed to have you in our lives. We will miss you but you will live on in our hearts always. A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, December 18, 2008, 12:00pm, at St. Joseph Catholic Church located at 520 S. Garfield Street in Kennewick with Holy Rosary beginning at 11:00am.
