Lawrence "Larry" Fortier Died in Kennewick, WA on August 25, 2009 after a long illness. Larry was born May 12, 1920 in Oklee, MN, the 9th of 13 children of Hattie Toupin Fortier and Isidore Fortier. He graduated from Oklee High School, and Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis, MN. He served in the Armed Services in Europe during World War II. He married Mary Galigan in St. Paul MN on September 10, 1943. In 1948 they moved to Washington State and settled in the Tri-City area. He was employed at Hanford until his retirement in 1984. He was a wonderful Dad and Grandfather who really cared about his family. He liked golf, hunting, fishing and camping. He volunteered weekly at St. Vincent Food Bank before his illness. Larry and Mary also volunteered with the Special Olympics program. Larry was a member of St. Patrick's Church, St. Vincent de Paul Society and Knights of Columbus. He was a member of IBEW Local #112 Electrical Union. Preceding him in death are his parents, all six brothers, and 4 sisters. Surviving are his loving wife of 65 years, Mary; son Thomas of Kennewick, and daughter Ann and husband Chuck Rogers of Pasco. Also grandchildren Jason Muns, Michele Muns, Heather Matt Armstrong and Mary David Claybrook; Great Grandchildren Maggie, Callie, Abbie and Cassie. Two sisters also survive: Dora Palcich of Yakima, WA and Therese Radniecki of Oklee, MN. We wish to extend our great admiration and thanks for Larry's caregivers and others associated with him during his residence at Callaway Gardens. We thank Hospice for their loving care during his final days. We love you, Dad, and will miss you. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Hospice House in Kennewick. The Rosary will be Friday, August 28, 2009 at 6:30 pm at Mueller's Greenlee Funeral Home, 1608 W. Court St. in Pasco. The Graveside Service will be Saturday, August 29, 2009 at 11:00am at Columbia Memorial Gardens, located at 224 S. 24th in Pasco.
