Lawrence "Larry" Earl DeFever died at home in Kennewick Washington of natural causes in August, 2014. Larry was born in Kennewick, WA October 14, 1971. Except for a year in Alaska he lived in the Tri-Cities all his life. Larry attended school in Kennewick, and graduated from Columbia High School, Burbank, WA and went on to Columbia Basin College. Larry was an active member of High Point Church of God of Prophecy where he served as head usher. Larry was always ready to lend a helping hand to friends and strangers alike. He participated in the Seattle to Portland Charity Ride for Parkinson's Disease, raised funds for Cystic Fibrosis, and rode his bicycle as a companion to ARC of Tri-Cities members while they trained for Special Olympics. Larry was active in sports from an early age. He played Grid Kids football for the Colts under Coaches Cordray and Hart and went on to play in high school. He also wrestled, swam, weight lifted, played Fast Pitch Softball and BMX raced. Larry enjoyed fishing, camping, long distance bicycle rides, and spending time with his family. Larry loved to cook. He hosted barbeques for friends and neighbors and volunteered as chef at Wilson House in Pasco, WA. His talent for mechanics was well known among his friends and family. He grew up working on cars with his dad and brothers and was restoring his vintage Dodge Charger. Larry was preceded in death by maternal and paternal Grandparents; father, Thomas L. DeFever (Lois), and nephew, Nicholas DeFever. He is survived by daughter, Abigail DeFever, and her brother, Mason Nugent; mother, Jean Yount (Gerald); brothers, Thomas E. (Diana); Robert; and Terrance (Cheryl); former wife, Paula Weyand Curcio; extended family members, Destiny Nugent, Patrick Nugent; and Jodee DeFever; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Graveside service will be held Saturday, September 20, 2014, at 10:00 a.m., at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, with a reception to follow at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home.
