Lawrance (Larry, Dad, Daddio, G-Pop, Poppa Larry) Cleveland loved God, his family and friends and truly lived a life of service to them and others. Born March 29th, 1935 in Dalton, South Dakota to Caroline and Elmer Cleveland and later moved to Presho, South Dakota where he would grow up. Dad was a very active boy playing sports in high school, hunting rabbits, and pheasants, and often getting into some sort of shenanigans. Early on he met his beautiful wife, Rita Sweeney, whose family had a farm in Presho but the two would not fall in love until later in life. After high school Dad enlisted in the army and served for two years. After his service he briefly owned an Indian Motorcycle dealership where he had one big sale, His own Indian Scout. Dad found out if he had a dealership he could get the bike for a very reduced price. Dad reunited with mom while she was in Nurses training and they were married April 30th, 1960.

Dad was a very gifted craftsman and started his career as a Carpenter, working on several Dams. They welcomed four children and we lived a simple and wonderful live in a single wide trailer as we moved with Dad's work. In 1973 Mom and Dad purchased their first house and would live there until 2022. Dad had come to the Tri Cities to work in the Hanford area as a Pipefitter. Before retiring, Dad would work as an Electrician, Carpenter, Pipefitter, and Operator. In one job interview they asked him what weaknesses he had. Dad very confidently said, "I do not have any." Over the years we found this to be true as he constantly welcomed mechanical and construction challenges and would always produce a masterful product. In 2000 he helped Carmen and Steve build their house and we were sure there is no wall in that house that is more than a 1/8 inch off – if at all.

He and Mom were very devout members of Holy Spirit Church. Dad was a very active member of the Knights of Columbus. He was instrumental in building the Ice Cream Trailer that is used at Water Follies and the Fair, he organized and worked on sprinkler blowouts, organized KC help delivering hospital equipment and built organizers for the storage units to hold the equipment. After retirement, Dad attended daily Mass and was a frequent fixture at Holy Spirit Church always answering the call to assist in whatever way he could. In 2008 Mom passed and that was a very tough time for Dad but he leaned into his faith and his family and was a true example of how to move on. His method was through devotion to family, friends, and service to others.

In later years Dad would develop dementia but still maintained his sense of humor and good spirits. Dad loved his family and was very busy traveling to grandkids and great grandkids various activities and games. Often times, the whole family would be together and he was proud to say, "I started all this." Dad lived a simple life clearly defined by his faith, family, and service.

Dad is survived by sons Curtis (wife Debbie), Kevin (Wife Pat), Daughters Carmen Ver Steeg (husband Steve), and Cheryl Bailey (husband David). 9 grandchildren (Kim, Cathy, Cory, Kaitlyn, Ali, Bridget, Brittany, Jarrod, and Brady) and 8 great grandchildren (Cameron, Kaylee, Trinity, Sydney, Cambri, Nolan, Isaac, and Grace).

Thank you to Dad's prayer group who became "family" to him. Thank you to the staff at Badger Mountain Adult Home who took such good care of him the last five months. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Holy Spirit Knights of Columbus, Holy Spirit Catholic Daughters, or Hospice. In honor of Dad please look for ways to serve others in the community without expecting anything in return.
