Peacefully on April 25, 2008, LaVerne Willis peacefully went to be with her Lord. Born on September 10, 1985 in Idabel, Oklahoma, LaVerne was an excellent student and graduated from business school before marrying Lonnie M. Willis in 1945. They moved to Richland in 1948, soon joining the newly formed Richland Baptist Church. LaVerne was a lifelong volunteer supporting Kadlec Hospital, Hospice, Tax Services for the Elderly, and Kramer Center. She delivered many meals to her homebound friends through the years. LaVerne loved God, her family, friends and fishing. Preceded in death by her beloved Lonnie in 1985, LaVerne married Virgil Nelson in 1987 who died in 1996. LaVerne leaves behind her family to mourn including her children Larry Rose, Lynda, Lance Dorian, Lonnie Ray Eileen, and Lisa Brian; her grandchildren Larry Lee, Landon, Tony, Jill Ryan, Kristen Steve, Travis, Morgon, Nick, Lauren, Brandon, and Sam; great grandchildren Caden, Peyton, and Tanner who is coming soon. She also leaves sisters, Vivian and Wilma and brother, Don, all of Oklahoma and her best friend, Pearl Crowder. Services will be held at Monday, April 28, 2008, 11:00am, at Richland Baptist Church located at 1632 George Washington Way in Richland. Private Inurnment will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to either Richland Baptist Church or Tri-City Chaplaincy Hospice. The family would like to express its heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Rado and the staff at the Cancer Center and the staff at the Tri-City Chaplaincy Hospice for making our mother and grandmother's last days comfortable and serene.
