LaVerne E. Kary, age 94, passed away peacefully at home on March 21, 2025.

He was born on February 3, 1931, in Kildeer, North Dakota. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Education, where he met and married his wife, Joan. Their marriage was followed by the birth of their first daughter, Andrea. He was a high school science teacher for four years before he proceeded to Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa. He graduated with his Doctor of Chiropractic in 1967, around the same time as the birth of their second daughter, Teresa (Tess).

His first practice was in Sitka, Alaska. In 1970, they moved to Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, where they started another practice. In 1978, they moved to Kennewick, WA. They initially had a practice in Prosser, but moved it to Richland in 1980. He fully retired from practice in 1998.

LaVerne was an avid outdoorsman with a great sense of humor. He was very much a visionary, open to new concepts and ideas. He wasn't afraid of change and trying new things. He had an adventurous spirit. He had a positive outlook and frequently reminded his family to "never judge an event on the day of its occurrence."

LaVerne loved his family with all his heart and spent his life taking care of them. He took care of his wife, Joan, in her last years before she passed away with dementia in 2021. His dedication, quiet strength, and unwavering support were the foundation of his family.

He found joy in the simple pleasures of life—spending time in nature, meaningful conversations, and sharing laughter with loved ones. His kindness, wisdom, and optimism left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He will be greatly missed by his surviving family members: daughters Andrea and Tess, and granddaughters Ainsley and Sophia, as well as extended family, friends, former patients, and all those whose lives he touched.

His legacy of love, curiosity, and resilience will live on in the hearts of those who knew and cherished him.
