Larry "Sonny" L. Dokie Jr. of Kennewick, Washington, was born April 11, 1946, in Fort Defiance, Arizona, into the Táchii'nii (Red Running into the Water People Clan). He passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2023, in Pasco, Washington.

He spent his early years in White Cone,  Arizona on the Navajo reservation.  Establishing strong  family bonds and a love of  the outdoors.

Larry came from a family of warriors and was a warrior himself, serving in the United States marine corps from 1964-68. He served in Vietnam  earning a Purple Heart. Larry carried a sense of pride and brotherhood throughout his life for the Marine Corp and the American military evident by the many decals covering some of his most prized possessions such as his golf bag and big red truck.

Larry joined the Bell phone company in Southern California after his return from Vietnam and worked there until his retirement in 2004. Remaining in the Barstow, California area until 2004 and later moving to Kennewick, Washington in 2005.

Larry was an avid hunter and went on many hunting expeditions with his father, brothers and son mostly in the mountains of Utah. He shared many stories of the hunts with his friends and family, his favorite hunting memory was the time he successfully harvested a thirty-seven inch wide mule deer (the bigger one got away).

Larry was a passionate golfer who accrued countless friends and trophies throughout his life while playing the game he loved.

The biggest trophy he won, though, was through a chance encounter on the golf course where he met his future wife, Tracy Dokie. Tracy and Larry formed an inseparable bond starting with their shared love for golf, and went on to become treasured additions to each other's families. Tracy and Larry selflessly shared their life with one another, with both of them being more concerned with their partner's wellbeing than the cares of their own.

Larry was the biggest fan and cheerleader for his family members and would constantly share the successes of his children, nieces, and nephews with all who had ears to hear. Larry also ensured that they had whatever they needed (bats, golf clubs, shoes, and more) to be successful and attended all the events he could.

He is preceded in death by parents Edith and Larry Dokie Sr.

He is survived by his wife of twenty eight years Tracy Dokie, son Larry Brett and Nicole, daughter Esperanza "Tina" Dokie-Fieger, two sisters and four brothers; Jane, Freddie, Edwin, Jerry, Donna and Michael and numerous nieces and nephews.
