Obituary for Kimberly (Kim) DeAnn Christensen

Kimberly (Kim) DeAnn Christensen passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 2nd, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. She was diagnosed with cancer 23 months ago and fought her best to overcome her sickness with surgery and chemo treatments. Kim was born in Seoul, South Korea and given the birthdate of March 2nd, 1973. She was adopted at the age of three and raised on a farm with her brother and sister in Moses Lake, Washington. She loved all the animals and showed sheep and pigs in 4-H. At the age of six, she swam for the Manta Ray Swim team.  She was an excellent and talented piano player and could learn music by ear, playing "Eye of the Tiger" for everyone to sing along to. She was chosen to play the piano for the school choir in Junior High School. In high school, she played on the soccer team, participated in FFA, and competed for Junior Miss.

After graduating high school in 1991, Kim had a burning desire to travel abroad and at age 18, ventured off to England, Sweden, & Finland to visit her lifelong pen-pal and two foreign exchange students. After returning, she went on to attend college and worked as a bank teller where she first met John Robert Christensen in 1992.  It was meant to be and they got married May 7th, 1994.  Kim earned her AAS degree in Accounting in 1998, but not before more traveling abroad, visiting over 10 different countries.  Her one regret was not being able to go up the Eiffel Tower during one trip due to a demonstration at the site during our visit. She traveled to many places over the years, taking multiple trips to the Hawaiian Islands and other destinations.

Kim greatly desired and was planning a trip to the Holy Land this month but due to her health had to cancel.  Her last big trip was a visit to Barcelona, Spain followed by a 120 km pilgrimage from Tui to Santiago de Compostela the year of their 25th wedding anniversary together.

Kim loved spending time with family and close friends, living life, laughing, and traveling.  She also greatly enjoyed the Bible study group at the Parish of the Holy Spirit.

She had four beautiful children over 14 years, all having some form of the initials JC. She was a good homemaker and loved her family, she especially loved the holidays and having everyone together. She was married for 28 years to her devoted husband. She was a kind and good person and loved to tell stories, a wonderful friend to many. Even though she is no longer with us, we will always remember her smile, her laugh, and the joy she brought into our lives. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband, John, and her children, Eric, Sara, Jonathan, and James. Also, her parents, Ron and Valerie Wade, brother, Darmon Wade, and sister, Daronna Reppe.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on January 12th at 11:00 am at the Parish of the Holy Spirit in Kennewick, with a viewing at 9:30 am and Rosary at 10:30 am.  A luncheon reception will follow in the Parish Community Center.   The burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Warden at 2:00 pm.
