Obituary

Kenneth "Wayne" Land was born on December 20, 1949, to Glen and Myra Nell Land. His parents taught him the love of God, and the value of family, hard work, and the importance of honesty and integrity.

Wayne's interest in music was fostered by his father, who rewarded him with a harmonica after his first dental visit: by his sister, who told him all the girls thought sax players were cool: and by his mother, who insisted he follow through with his first sax lesson when his shyness almost got the better of him.

Wayne proudly graduated from Troy State University, and performed in their "Sound of the South" marching band. He went on to become a high school band director in Georgia, Alabama, and Florida.

In 1975 he married Kimberly King, with whom he had two children, the lights of his life. In order to live closer to his children after their divorce, Wayne switched gears and became a piano salesman, both in Florida and Louisiana.

In 2009 he met the love of his life (his words) Teresa Hryniewich, and took a leap of faith, moving to Washington State to be with her. There, Wayne was able to fulfill his life-long dream of playing saxophone in a band, the "Three Rivers Saxtette", with whom he performed until shortly before his death.

Wayne felt that he had much in his life to be happy about, proud of, and grateful for.

Wayne is survived by his wife Teresa, children Kenneth Land and Rachel McConkey (Joel), grandchildren Regan, Brielle, and Everett McConkey, sister Glenda Land, niece Angie Pennington Wright (Reese), nephew Daniel Runion, grand-niece Hope Wright, "bonus" stepdaughters Jeannette Diesman and Kimberly Allen (Daniel), and "bonus" grandchildren Gabrielle Nielsen and Jack Henry Diesman.

Mueller's Funeral Home, in coordination with Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Panama City, Florida, are in charge of arrangements. A celebration of life may be held locally at a later date.
