Obituary

Ken was born in Deep Water, Virginia, on August 16, 1935, to Lawrence H. and Dorothy L. (Robinson) Cook. He passed away on May 15, 2022, at Chaplaincy Health Care (Hospice House) with his family by his side. When Ken came to the Tri-Cities in 1957, he worked for Western Materials and operated a service station in Pasco. In 1965 he went to work as a laborer for Tri-City Tile and Masonry. In 1975 he started farming in Finley. He raised alfalfa hay and cattle. He retired from construction work in 2000 and continued farming until November 2008. Ken is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sylvia (Vandine) Cook and his daughters, Judy Morales (Mark Conrad) and Jennifer (Randy) Roach. He is also survived by his grandchildren Sara Morales (Victor Altamirano), Tyler (Anna) Morales, Jessica (Ryan) Bernsen, and Marcelino (Shawn) Morales; and his great-grandchildren Luca Altamirano, Brayden Bernsen, Michael Morales, Maddox Morales, Skylar Bernsen, and Luciana Altamirano. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Dorothy Cook, and his brother, Lawrence (JR) Cook. He is survived by sisters, Dreama (Kenneth) Godsey and Barbara Calfee of Lanexa, Virginia, and Linda Lowell) Philbeck of Clarksville, Virginia; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Delores Pinkal and numerous nephews and nieces in Virginia and Washington state. The family would like to thank Linda Philbeck for coming to the Tri-Cities and helping us take care of Ken before he was transferred to Chaplaincy Health Care. We would also like to thank Chaplaincy Health Care (Hospice House) for their kindness, compassion, and caring for Ken and the family during this most stressful time. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Chaplaincy Health Care, 1480 Fowler St., Richland, WA 99352. Muellers Tri-Cities is in charge of arrangements. A celebration of Ken's life with the immediate family will be held a later date.
