Kay Hogan Bullock

August 28, 1937 – July 22, 2025

Kay Hogan Bullock, age 87, passed away in Kennewick, WA on July 22, 2025.

Kay loved this world, nature and the great outdoors. Although he received a B.A. in Political Science from Arizona State University, he opted to pursue a career in construction. He enjoyed the challenges he faced in working on various commercial and landscaping projects. He had a special attachment for running big equipment and always greeted a new project with enthusiasm. He moved from commercial to residential construction building homes. He was a hard worker and enjoyed the physical labor his job required.

His adult life was an extension of his growing up years in Idaho where he took great pride in working on his uncle's farm. He had many serious injuries but that did not deter him from pushing forward. He liked to make others laugh and was known for his teasing and playing mischievous pranks on family members.

Kay was born August 28, 1937, to Iris Meacham and Roland Hogan. They were divorced and later Iris married LaMonte Bullock. This marriage was blessed with seven more remarkable boys: Dee, Doyle, Barry, Cleve, Glade, Kevin, and Jeff.

Kay joined the Navy shortly after graduating from high school in Grace, Idaho. He worked on classified projects where he was not allowed to talk about his activities for many years after his discharge.

Although Kay proudly served his country, he felt he had another higher calling and after his 4-year term was completed, he was honorably discharged and went to Brazil as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints sharing the gospel with the wonderful people living in southern Brazil. His life was a testament of his love for His Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

In 1963 Kay married Vae Bragg in the Manti Temple. Kay and Vae spent the next 61+ years helping each other through the challenges and sharing the joys that life brings. They were blessed to have three amazing children whom they love dearly: Jared, Angela and Celeste.

Kay is survived by his wife, Opal Vae; two daughters, Angela (Jonathan) Suthard and Celeste (Richard) Clifton; 3 grandchildren, Brittiany, Krstin, and Joshua; 1 great-grandson, Evan; and 3 brothers, Barry, Glade and Jeff.

He is preceded in death by his son, Jared; his father and mother; and four brothers, Cleve, Doyle, Kevin and Dee.

The Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 11:00 a.m. at the Hansen Park building of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 8120 West 4th Avenue in Kennewick.
