Karley Diane McFarland Bartlett, 82, of Kennewick passed away on July 23, 2015. Karley had been a resident of the Callaway Gardens Alzheimer's Special Care Center in Kennewick since 2014. Karley was born and spent her grade school years in Centerville, Iowa. She often spoke fondly of growing up on a farm near her grandparents Reuben Pearl and Sarah Esta Fisk McFarland. Karley graduated from Riverview High School in Kennewick and maintained high school friendships throughout her entire life. In 1951, Karley married Richard "Johnny" Ager. Together they had four children and enjoyed the travel and experiences that come with a career in the U.S. Army. Their marriage ended in 1968. In 1967, Karley began her career in nursing as a nurse's aide at a nursing home. This experience inspired Karley to obtain her LPN and finally her RN license in 1983. During Karley's long nursing career she worked at Kennewick General Hospital, Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice Program, Kadlec Hospital and retired in 1993 from Avalon Health and Rehab Center. Karley married William "Bill" Bartlett on July 31, 1992. After retirement, they began new adventures by traveling to Hawaii and spending their winters in Arizona and Florida. They were also active members of the Central United Protestant Church. Karley was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Karley enjoyed traveling, dancing and making all types of craft projects, but her crocheted doilies, tablecloths and pine needle baskets will be family treasures for generations. Family history was very important to Karley and she made sure that her children knew the names of their great, great, grandparents and passed along some of their small personal possessions. This tradition will continue with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Karley is survived by her daughters Vicki Ager (Robert Philip) Twogood of Tallahassee, FL and Charlotte "Crys" Crystal Ager of Bremerton; son David Reginald (Cindy Lynn) Ager of Shoreline, WA; and grandchildren Sean-Paul Nipper of St. Petersburg, FL, Rebecca (Pastor Michael) Weiss of Madison, WI, Pastor Jonathan (Crystal) Ager of Moses Lake, WA, Missionary Emily (Andrew) Aaron of Ghana, West Africa, David Ager of Kennewick, WA. Karley is preceded in death by her devoted husband of 22 years Bill Bartlett, parents Roy and Charlotte Atkinson McFarland; son and daughter-in-law Pastor Richard Thomas and Cheryl Ager; sisters Valerie Komar, Kathy Harrison and Joyce Simmons. The family will have a private memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to The Tri-Cities 2015 Walk to End Alzheimers, 509-456-0456. The family wants to thank Sandy, Cara, Lindsay, Lourdes, Cassie, Mary Pat, Laura, Roxie, and the other wonderful and caring staff at the Callaway Gardens Special Alzheimer's Care Center; the Heartlinks Hospice & Palliative Care staff; and Pastor Sharyn Withers of the Central United Protestant Church.
