Karen Ann Sims, 78, of Kennewick, Washington passed away on Wednesday May 16, 2018 in Hawthorn Court, Kennewick after a lengthy battle with esophageal cancer. Karen was born on February 17, 1940 in Winner South Dakota to Lester and Gladys Sims. The family moved to Pasco in 1951 where Karen graduated from Pasco High in 1958. Karen worked for several investment companies in the Tri-Cities and retired as a respected sales assistant. Karen married her best friend Robert Loving on March 25th, 1990. They had ten enjoyable married years before his passing in August 2000. Karen and Bob enjoyed traveling to Mexico, boating trips and fishing in Conconully. After Bob's death she went on cruises and golf trips with girlfriends who encouraged her to take up the game. She was predeceased by her husband, Bob Loving; her parents, Lester and Gladys Sims and her sister, Glenda Rae Potter. Karen is survived by her sister Sandra M. Rowley of Kennewick, nephews Lawrence Blaine Manthey and wife Tali, Hemet CA, Lance McConnell Manthey, and wife Wendy, Southern Pines, NC, Bradley Wayne Potter and wife Laura, West Richland, WA, nieces Lorie Maureen Rowley and husband Craig, Packwood, WA, and Lisa Potter Maul, Tacoma, WA, and eight grand nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, June 25th, 2018 at the Zintel Creek Golf Club in The Edge Steakhouse at 4:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Chaplaincy Hospice Care in Karen's name at 1480 Fowler Street, Richland, WA 99352.
