Karen Marie Malloy (Woehle)
Karen Marie Malloy (Woehle), age 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family after a brave and valiant battle with Parkinson's. Her devoted husband, Jerry, and three children, Kathy, Patti, and Mark, were by her side as she entered into his eternal kingdom on October 14, 2026, at Cherry Creek Cottage.
Karen Marie Woehle was born on March 20, 1944, in Bismarck, ND. In 1962, she graduated from Columbia High School; it was there she picked out her future soulmate from a group of boys, "The one with the cutest smile", Jerry Malloy.
In 1963, they were wed at the old, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kennewick. After living across the Tri-Cities, they would settle in a house designed and built by her husband in Kennewick on 45th Avenue, where they would spend 50 years. She had three children, Kathleen, Patricia, and Mark. She deeply cared for all her children and fretted constantly about them, making sure they never got into too much trouble at school or around the neighborhood. Frequently waiting all night for her kids to get home safe and sound, regardless of age, day, or time.
She later welcomed and doted on her many precious grandchildren, whom she tended to dearly and spoiled greatly. "Mom and Dad's", "Grandma's House", or "Grammy and Papa's" would be the location of countless sick days, sleepovers, many cherished holidays, and birthdays teeming with her beloved family and friends.
Karen found joy in life's simple pleasures. She thoroughly enjoyed reading, movies, card games, cooking delicious meals for family and friends, and a good conversation on her favorite porch bench. It was in these things that she found purpose and happiness in sharing them. Her home was a place of laughter, ease, togetherness, and comfort unparalleled. But most of all, she took immense joy in being with and around her family as life filled her home with glad raucousness.
Karen was a loving wife, devoted mother, doting grandmother, and treasured friend whose kindness, warmth, selflessness, and unwavering love left an indelible mark on all who knew her. She had a God-given talent for making you feel welcome, cared for, and most of all, genuinely loved. Her heart overflowed with love for so many, and she shared it ceaselessly. To those closest to her, she had an incomparable ability to read you without a word and give you exactly what you most needed: a hug, advice, and a gentle holding of your hands. Although Parkinson's Disease presented challenges in her final years, Karen faced them with courage, dignity, and grace. Her resilience, determination, and fierce independence were an example to all those around her.
Karen is survived by her beloved husband, Jerry Malloy; her children, Kathy Malloy, Patti (Steve) Brewer, and Mark (Kelly) Malloy; and her precious grandchildren, Zak and Chase Flora, Kylie Malloy, Masen Malloy, Kaden Malloy, and Ashley Batiste. She is also survived by her older sister, Marilyn Maxwell, and by her extended family and many dear friends who will miss her deeply.
A celebration of Karen's life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Karen's memory to The Parkinson's Foundation at The Parkinson's Foundation.
