Karen Jo Dennis (McGarrigan), 68, passed away peacefully, on June 11, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in Ketchikan, Alaska, Karen made the Tri-Cities, Washington her home in 1989. She earned a double bachelor's degree and a master's degree, which paved the way for her fulfilling career as a teacher at Park Middle School. After 25 years, Karen retired to embrace her passions. Her days were spent sewing, traveling, and enjoying time with her grandchildren, family and friends. She was a strong supporter of students in need.
Karen is survived by her devoted children: Pepper (Dave) Siegel, Katy Woolery, and Keri (Drew) Maltos. She was a proud grandmother to Spencer, Emma and Dylan Siegel, Ethan and Brantlee Woolery, and Annie, Landon, and Preslee Maltos. She is also survived by her father, Paul McGarrigan, siblings: Jim (Cheryl) McGarrigan, Susan (Dan) Benfield, Jon McGarrigan, Jennie McGarrigan, and her numerous extended relatives. Karen was preceded in death by her mother, Joanie McGarrigan, and her husband, Paul Lucas.
A celebration of Karen's life will be held on August 16 at 11:00am at the Gateway Foursquare Church, 4312 W Kennewick Ave. in Kennewick.
In honor of Karen's legacy, the family is collecting new school supplies to be donated to students in need. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to this cause.
