Obituary

Our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister June Root of Kennewick Washington passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, surrounded by family. She was 95.

June was born on November, 12, 1929 to parents Henry and Natalia Reisig at home near Lake Madison, South Dakota. June was the second of 7 children. June lived on the farm her family leased at Lake Madison and attended school in Chester S.D. Later the family bought a farm near Colman S.D. and she finished her education at Colman High School.

Soon after graduation June travelled to Richland Washington and found employment as a bank teller at Seattle First National Bank. In March 1957 she met the love of her life and future husband Earl Root and they were married in August of that same year. They settled in Kennewick and together they raised a family of 3 boys. June ran the household and tried to keep her three sons busy and out of trouble. Life was not always easy for June in a house where she was outnumbered 4 to 1, but she made the best of it and was a wonderful, caring, loving mom.

Later in life June took up oil painting and was very good at it. Producing numerous landscape works that adorn the walls of many homes. June also tried her hand at crocheting, making afghans that are treasured heirlooms of her family and friends.

June was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl, brothers Robert and Ross Reisig, brother-in-law Chuck Lamb, and daughter-in-law Barb Root.

June is survived by sons, Eric (Claudia), Paul, and Neil (Caryn), grandchildren Kyle, Laura, Luke and great grandchild Saleen. June is also survived by sister-in-law Mona Reisig, sister Nettie Lamb, sisters Molly and Ruby Reisig, and brother Henry Reisig and sister-in-law Emma, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
