Obituary

Juanita was born August 23,1929 in Dodge City Kansas, to Millie and Cecil Winfrey. Moving from Kansas to Colorado she met her future husband. Juanita and Leon were married May 16, 1946. They moved to Eltopia Washington in 1954 drawing a farm in the Columbia Basin. They had six children Robert, Janice, Mark, Jeannie, Christine, and Rod. Juanita also had 17 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Juanita was a member of the St.Paul Catholic Church and alter society. Juanita worked on the farm hauling sugar beets, setting tubes, milking cows and working on equipment. She was a jack of all trades. A woman of great character, had deep love for her family and faith in God. In her later years she volunteered for work in the gift shop at Our Lady of Lourdes. Always positive and friendly she worked diligently. Juanita left a memorable impression on everyone she came in contact with. Juanita was able to see all her children and grandchildren before her passing . She left this world with her daughter Jeannie and granddaughter at her side with the assistance of Father Robert Turner, on June 3, 2021 at the age of 91. She wanted to do 2 things before she passed – drive her car and go one last time to the casino. As a family we will assure Juanita that we will do these 2 last requests in honor of her. Juanita's graveside service will be June 14,2021, 11:00 AM, at the Eltopia cemetery where she will be buried by her husband Leon and two daughters Janice and Chris.
