Obituary

Joyce Ellen (Seat) Rouse

Joyce Ellen (Seat) Rouse was born on September 24, 1940, in Allendale, Missouri, to Larry and Fern Seat. She married Kenneth Rouse February 14th 1964 and they were happily married 51 years until his passing. She went home to be with the Lord on January 27, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, service, and music.

Joyce truly "wore many hats" throughout her life. She devoted herself to serving others as a music teacher, preschool teacher, choir director, administrative secretary to the superintendent of CHS, elementary school secretary, lunch program director, and proudly as the beloved "lunch lady." No matter the role, Joyce poured her heart into everything she did.

For more than 20 years, Joyce served her community as a volunteer firefighter with the WW Fire District #5. She could drive the fire truck, the grass rig, and even the ambulance, but humorously, Kenny was convinced she could never drive a riding lawn mower, a story that always brought smiles and laughter.

Joyce was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church, where her faith shone brightly. She led music, taught Sunday School, served on multiple committees, and lived each day with an unwavering love for Jesus. Her smile could brighten even the darkest of rooms, and her joy was contagious.

After a courageous battle, Joyce is now cancer-free. Her mind is sharp, her voice is lifted in song with the angels, and she is holding Kenny's hand once again. There is no doubt that Jesus, Kenny and her parents were there to welcome her home, wrapping her in their arms as she rejoices in Heaven.

Joyce had a deep love for angels, a reflection of her gentle spirit. Over the years, she collected more than 530 angels from friends, family, and shopping adventures—each one a reminder of the love she shared and inspired.

Joyce is survived by her son, Lonnie Rouse (Melinda); grandsons Christopher, Austin, Devan, and Brennan; and her great-granddaughter, Isabella. She is also survived by her daughter, Shauna (Rudy), and grandchildren Kameron and Kendra. She is also survived by her brothers Darel Seat (Mary), and Gary Seat (Cheryl) and their children.

Burial will be held at Desert Lawn Memorial on Friday, February 13th, at 11:00 a.m. A Celebration of Life service will follow at Trinity Baptist Church, 62 Florence Court, Burbank, at 1:30 p.m.

Joyce Ellen Rouse will be remembered for her servant's heart, her love of music, her unwavering faith, and the light she brought into every life she touched. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy lives on in the countless lives she impacted and the love she leaves behind.

"Well done, my good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord."

— Matthew 25:23
