Joyce Maxine (Crowe) Green

Aka: Mom, Mana, GG & Friend

Joyce was born in Leavenworth WA to a Pioneer Logging Family in 1928.

Joyce's Father (Jack Crowe) would tell her – "You can do this! You have Pioneer Blood running through your veins". This is the spirit in which she approached life.

Joyce moved to Cle Elem, WA for the third grade; she graduated in 1946 after leading most High School Stage Productions, Cantina Club and just about anything social along with Rainbow Girls.

During her Senior Year of High School, a Talent Scout from the Ashland, OR Shakespeare Festival came to see her perform and promptly offered her a full scholarship along with a place in the acting academy. Her Mother Eva (Castle) Crowe said absolutely not!! Acting was not an honorable profession for a young lady. So, Joyce went on to Central Washington College, she graduated in 3 years with her degree in Education with a Minor in Home Economics. The classroom then became her stage for years to come. First in Selah, WA, then Ronald, WA and finally moving to Kennewick School District where she eventually retired in 1988.

Christmas 1950 Jack Green told her he would like to give her an engagement ring as a gift, if she would accept it. They were married on June 2 the following year (1951). Joyce never remembers Jack asking to marry her. They continued to communicate in this symbiotic fashion for the next 65 years. On December 15, 2024, Joyce & Jack were reunited for Christmas.

Joyce often said her greatest joy and gift was family. She will be fondly remembered by her daughters Kathy Jo Craig & Linda Adams along with their families: Andy Craig, Nichole, Somrit, Briella & Cooper Tim, Ryan and Parker Craig, Abigail, Dustin, Ember & Luna Roy, Jacob Craig, Ray Adams, Jacqueline Adams, Barron Maizland, and Dr Raymond Adams.

Joyce traveled often, usually with family, on vacations, for holidays, and just about any time she had a chance. Joyce said the Pioneer Blood also gave us all the love of travel and adventure. Joyce and Jack retired in 1988 to travel! Her favorite adventure was the one she was on at the time.

For the past 10 years Joyce has been a very active participant as a resident in Independent Living at the Manor Canyon Lakes, Brookdale.

Her most recent production was to start LOL (Laugh Out Loud) monthly on Saturdays. This was a great time for residents to join in for an old-fashioned comedy hour, laugh, and enjoy one another. Joyce's character, hillbilly Granny, brought many joys with her humor. She was always working on a new character or jokes for a script, her quick wit will be missed by all.

Joyce loved her friends and community, the Canyon Lakes Community, Ladies of Table 2 and First Presbyterian Church Fellowship.

There may be a hole in our hearts, but there is an angel in Heaven!
