On July 25, our family lost our leader; she was a great wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and neighbor. Joy Miller departed this world, leaving the pain and frustration she had experienced over the past three years, due to several strokes and complications of her medical status. She is now in a far better place, with no pain, no problems, no tears. And we miss her. Joy was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Delpha Bea and Cregg Cooper on November 3, 1938, living there until the family moved to Washington. She attended Kennewick schools, graduating from Kennewick High School in 1956, then on to Columbia Basin College. While working at the Mid-Columbia Library (in downtown Kennewick, adjacent to the fire station), Joy met and married John Osborne. Later they moved to Dallas, Texas for several years, where their third child was born. Joy and the children moved back to the Tri-Cities in April 1986 and started life anew. At a class reunion, she met Mike Miller, a childhood friend and former classmate, and they renewed the old friendship and discovered it was much more than they ever knew. They were married on Christmas day, and were happy together for the next 30 years, ended only by her passing. Joy is survived by her loving husband, Mike, daughter Lynda Osborne, sons John Osborne and Alan (Nikki) Osborne, stepsons Michael and Evan Miller, brother Gerald W. (Laura) Cooper, 13 grandchildren and great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Bea and Cregg, and a brother, John Cooper. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Riverview Cemetary at 10th and Olympia, Kennewick on August 29 at 11:00 a.m.; this will be followed by a light luncheon at Grace Baptist Church, 4403 W. 10th, Kennewick.
