Joseph A. Roberts ("Joe"), age 99, passed away on December 22, 2024. Joe was born on March 29, 1925, to Emile and Blanche Roberts in Grandview, Washington. After graduating from Grandview High School, Joe was drafted into the Army and was assigned to the 11th Airborne Division where he trained as a paratrooper medic and was eventually stationed in occupied Japan after the war.

Following discharge from the Army, he attended Washington State University, marrying Barbara Berg in 1951 and graduating in 1952. After a short time in Yakima, he started farming in the Prosser area, then purchasing a farm and moving to Connell in 1959. In 1974, he moved to Pasco and married Betty Ungerecht Voycheske and continued to farm until retiring in 1996. Never one to sit still, he saw that the post office was hiring temporary help for Christmas and, after learning many of the local rural routes, eventually purchased a right-hand drive, Jeep. He continued to work some 14 years for the post office, thoroughly enjoying every minute. Joe was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing with his son Jim, and had a passion for woodworking. He had a strong Catholic faith, and enjoyed volunteering at St. Vincent's food bank, doing the bread run for many years.

Joe is survived and will be lovingly remembered by Debbie (Cliff) Hobson, Diane Cannon, Jim "J.R." Roberts, Angela Tracy, Pam (Rick) Wright, Marie (John) Mosley and Lisa (Gordon) Johnson, 18 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter.

Funeral Mass will be held Friday, January 10 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Pasco. The Rosary service will be held at 10:30 am followed by the funeral mass at 11:00 am.
