Obituary

John Boyd McKinsey, 95, of Kennewick, passed away on June 1, 2007. He was born on January 21, 1912 in Freewater, Oregon to Lochiel and Etta Mae McKinsey. John served with the United States Army in Hawaii from 1929 until 1932. On June 13, 1936 he married Minnie Derting in Kennewick. Minnie passed away just prior to their 40th anniversary in June of 1976. John married a second time to Ila Bryer in 1986 and she passed away in 2005. John worked as a farm laborer until he began his railroading career in 1940. He was a section foreman for Union Pacific Railroad, worked for the railroad in Alaska and completed his career with Union Pacific building railroads. He retired in 1964 after an industrial accident. John is survived by his three children; Iva May Smith of Pasco, Esther Greenhalgh Jim of Newcastle, CA, and Ron McKinsey Sharon of Kennewick; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at 11:00a.m. at Mueller?s Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union in Kennewick with interment to follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Kennewick. A reception will be held at Mueller?s Tri-Cities Funeral Home in the Hospitality Room following the services. The family wishes to thank Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice for all their care and dedication and requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Hospice at 2108 W. Entiat in Kennewick, WA 99336.
