John Michael Kirk

Mike was born in Richland, Washington September 22, 1949 to John and Dorothy Kirk. He passed away July 21, 2023 in his home in Kennewick, Washington.

Mike and Judy (Fields) were married the first time on July 12, 1969 and again on July 12, 1997. Mike was a hard worker in his younger years. He served in the USAF during the Viet Nam era. After his discharge from the Air Force, he worked as a Cement Finisher, as Maintenance for Columbia Irrigation and on Hanford Patrol until his retirement.

Kida and animals loved Mike. He enjoyed refurbishing bikes and made sure every kid in our neighborhood had one. He loved to give out treats to the kids and would by a package of M&Ms to give to the kids standing in the checkout line at the store. He always said when the kids got older, he wanted them to remember the old guy who always gave them treats.

Mike enjoyed spending time outdoors. He loved to hunt, fish and ride his mules in the mountains, he still would sit outside under the dogwood tree to drink his morning coffee.

Mike is survived by his wife Judy. His daughter Stefanie (Eric) Morris and son Jeremy (Amanda) Kirk. Grandchildren Tyler (Bella) and Jeff Morris, John, Jesse and Sarah Kirk. Great grandkids Oliver, Luka, Samantha, Jaxon, and Benjamin. Siblings Brenda Bull, Pat (Kathy) Kirk, Peggy (Dale) Wood and Kelly (Donald) Hendren along with many nieces and nephews. His faithful pet and companion Gus. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Dorothy, sisters Kathy Blankenship, Phyllis Williams and nephew Brian Blankenship.

Mike didn't want a funeral or formal memorial service, he just wanted a party. We are planning a party to celebrate his life on Saturday, October 7th at 3:30 PM in the backyard of our home at 420 S. Quillan St., Kennewick. It will be very informal. Please come ready to eat and share memories.
