John was born on December 9th, 1922 in Sioux City, Iowa to George V. and Mildred E. Clark. As a young boy his family moved to El Monte, California where he graduated from high school in 1940. John was drafted in the U.S. Army in late 1945 where he maintained marine engines and auxiliary equipment and acted as First Engineer on crash recovery boats. After the war ended he was honorably discharged in January 1947 in Seattle, WA where he met Dorothy Clark and were married in 1953. He moved his family from Seattle to the Tri-Cities to work some land for his brother-in-law who acquired the land in a government lottery. John obtained one of the earliest electrician's licenses in the state of Washington and founded Clark Electric in Pasco in the late 1950s where he contracted to do the wiring of the new circle-irrigation and pump systems that revolutionized farming in the Columbia Basin. He retired from Clark Electric in 1986 and passed on the business to his son Gerald. While retired John continued to manage commercial and residential real estate property that he owned but also loved to travel as he traveled to places such as China, Israel and the Holy lands, Alaska, Mexico and the Hawaiian islands. After Dorothy, his wife of 42 years, passed away he married Pauline Harker Bagley. John and Pauline shared a condo in Oahu, Hawaii that they considered their home away from home and where they met and made many close friends. Although John?s health was in decline after having heart surgery in 2006 he remained adventurous and was always ready to go anywhere and do anything with a ?why not? attitude. After realizing that his health would prevent him from getting back to Hawaii, he kiddingly suggested to Pauline that they buy a new motorhome and travel the country, plans that would never materialize. John Clark passed away peacefully in Pauline?s arms at Kadlec Hospital in Richland, WA on August 15, 2009 at the age of 86. John was preceded in death by his father George and mother Mildred, brother George, wife Dorothy and son Larry. He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Leah "Pauline" Clark, his son Gerald Clark wife Sherry of Kennewick, WA, step sons John Arevalo wife Kelly of Kennewick, WA, Dan Chandler wife Peggy of Renton, WA, grandchildren Jay Clark wife Colleen of White Salmon, WA, Jeff Clark wife Silvia of Pasco, WA, Jamie Arevalo fiancé Richard Gonzales of Pasco, WA, Danielle Arevalo of Kennewick, WA, Holli Clark of Pasco, WA, Tracie Davis husband Bobby of Pasco, WA, Lauren, Lindsay and Kyle Chandler all of Renton, WA, and 5 great grandchildren. John loved sharing time with his family and friends and never hesitated when someone needed help. His caring and compassionate personality lead to many deep and lasting friendships. He was our friend, father "pops", grandfather "gramps" and "grandpa", and husband. We will miss him dearly. Viewing will be held Thursday August 20th between 5:00 and 8:00pm at Mueller's Greenlee Funeral Home in Pasco, WA. Funeral services to be held Friday August 21st at 2:00pm, at the funeral home. John's wishes to be cremated and buried at City View Cemetery in Pasco will be honored with a private family service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions may be made in John's name to the Fourth Floor Intermediate Medical Unit in the new tower at Kadlec Hospital in Richland, WA.
