John Carlson
May 19, 1930 ~ January 12, 2024
John Carlson joined his beloved wife, Margie, in Heaven on January 12, 2024, at the age of 93. He was born as the second son to Thor and Margaret Carlson in Redwing, Minnesota. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1952 and married the love of his life upon discharge. The couple then moved to the Tri Cities, Washington, where John took a job with General Electric at the Hanford Site as an instrument technician. They made their home in the Tri Cities and raised two daughters, Susan and Debra. After his job in "the Area", John worked for several technical instrument companies developing and building non-destructive test equipment (primarily transducers). He was a loyal Tri City Americans hockey fan, an avid bird hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed bowling (participating in many leagues over the years). He and Margie enjoyed Lincoln City, Oregon beaches; Cactus Pete's Casino in Nevada; and various cruises to visit other parts of the world. John was a devoted friend and family man, cheering on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren at a variety of sporting events and school activities. He is survived by his Sister, Dianne (Davis); his daughter, Susan (Arey); sons-in-law Bruce (Arey) and Steven Smith; granddaughters Kristin (Seffens), Cassie (Arey-Chavez), Erin (Bush), Brittan (Ornstein), and Kelsey (Gomez), and 12 great grandchildren. John is preceded in death by his parents, Thor and Margaret Carlson; his brother Robert; and his daughter, Debra (Smith). Rest in peace dad…we miss you.
