Obituary

Jo Ann Cameron passed away October 31, 2025 in her home in Richland after a long struggle with colon cancer. Jo Ann was born to Robert and Agnes (Edmonson) Johanson on May 19, 1936 in Prosser, Washington. She grew up on a farm west of Benton City. She played the trombone in school and graduated from Kiona-Benton High School in 1954. She was a Rainbow girl and followed up with many decades as a member of Eastern Star's Roza Chapter in Benton City, serving as their Worthy Matron; as her mother had done much earlier.

She married Larry Cameron in 1954 and moved to various places in the Pacific Northwest. She gave birth to Lue Ann (Deckman) in 1955 and Todd in 1958. They managed an A&W restaurant near Wallace, Idaho until eventually moving to Longview, Washington where they also owned and managed an A&W along with some apartments. There they brought Craig into the world in 1966.

Larry, Jo Ann and Craig moved to Kennewick in 1978. They were semi-retired while managing a couple rental houses in Kennewick. In 1988 they moved to the southern part of Richland where Larry lived until his death in 2005 and Jo Ann's late last year.

Jo Ann loved to read, camp, swim, and walk. She loved animals including family pets, especially dogs Heidi, Oscar and Colby. She enjoyed camping and traveling with Larry and her granddaughters Emily, Sarah and Melissa. Later she got to know her six greatgrandchildren and see them grow and flourish. She especially loved spending time at her children's cabins in the Roslyn, Washington area. Some of her trips with family included cruises to Alaska, Mexico and trips to Europe and Scandinavia.

Jo Ann continued to keep in touch with her high school and Eastern Star friends helping put on all-years reunions for Ki-Be and attending Star meetings all over the state. She even served as a representative from Washington to New York's Eastern Star and enjoyed seeing plays and touring around with her fellow members while in New York City and state.

Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Larry and son Todd, her two older brothers Bobby and Dick and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. She is survived by her daughter Lue Ann and her husband Ross, son Craig, and her granddaughters and their families.

A service will be held starting at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Mueller's Funeral Home in Kennewick. We hope to see friends and family come honor Jo Ann. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to hospice or the American Cancer Society.
