Jimmy D. Taylor passed quietly into our Lord's arms on Saturday evening, January 28, 2017. He was preceded by his Parents: Slim and Edna, Sister: Annette, Son: Timothy, and Great Grandson: Garrett Taylor. He is survived by: his loving wife Mary of 68+ years, his sister: Nora and husband Gilbert Fain, his children: Michael and wife Kathy, Marilyn Blazon and husband Frank, Joseph and wife Jery, Gregory and wife Carole, Stephen and wife Agi. As well as 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Jimmy was born in Beloit, KS in 1925 to the proud parents Hugh and Edna. He left High School early to enlist in the United States Navy where he proudly served on the USS Topeka (CL 67) as an AMM3. (The Topeka was the 1st ship to enter Tokyo harbor in August of '45.) Jimmy was honorably discharged in 1946 and subsequently moved to Richland to join his folks, working in support of the Hanford project. He met and married the love of his life, Mary Sedar in 1948. He continued to work on the Hanford project, rising to the position of supervisor of the 200 E & W power houses. He retired in 1986, however that didn't stop him from working. His volunteer work included, but was not limited to: 60+ years with the Knights of Columbus, 25+ years at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, and a number of years working with the St. Vincent DePaul Society. Jimmy is greatly missed by all. Services for Jimmy are as follows: Viewing – Wed., Feb. 1st from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, the Rosary will begin at 7:00pm. These events will be held at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union St. In Kennewick. Mass – Thurs., Feb. 2nd at 1:00pm at St. Joseph's main church located at 520 Garfield St., Kennewick. Graveside Services – will follow the Mass at Desert Lawn Memorial Park 1401 S. Union St., Kennewick. A light reception will be held back at St. Joseph's in a side room located in the main building. Instead of flowers, the family asks that you take a moment to appreciate your own family and the love to be found in giving of yourself.
