Obituary

On February 11, 2026, Jimmy L. Overton went home to be with his Lord and Savior. Jimmy was born on November 13, 1945, the son of Ruth Ann and Albert N. Overton in the town of Great Falls, Montana where he lived before moving to Columbia Falls. He graduated from Columbia Falls High School in 1965. After a year of college in Montana, Jimmy joined the US Navy in 1967 during the Vietnam conflict, serving on the Uss Austin, LPD-4 in that theater and additionally supporting the space flights. While visiting his parents in Pasco, Washington he met the love of his life, Gloria. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, they married in 1971 and had a daughter Anna in 1976. Jimmy worked for Boise Cascade Papermill as a journeyman millwright for 42 years.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Nile. Jimmy is survived by his wife of 54 years Gloria, daughter Anna Niederwerfer, son-in-law Mark Niederwerfer, brother-in-law Darold Minielly (wife Pam) Nephew Sean Minielly (wife Jemmie) their children Shalie and Garrett and many extended family members.

Jimmy was active volunteering to lead one of the cleaning teams and an usher at Temple Baptist Church in Richland. He was a master at fixing machinery and welding. His neighbors and friends often brought projects for him to weld. Jimmy always had a permanent smile that made everyone feel at ease and kept a sunny disposition no matter the circumstance. He was the happiest guy you could know. We were truly blessed to have him in our life. A memorial service will be held on March 7, 2026 at 1:00pm at Temple Baptist Church 4445 Arena Road, Richland, WA.
