Jim A. Wangen was born a sinner on June 6, 1944 and died a "sinner saved by God's GRACE" on Nov. 13, 2014. After years of battling with many sicknesses, including two heart surgeries, a stroke, Hepatitis C, Cancer, Respiratory Traumas and Voice box removal his final pneumonia ushered him peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jim deeply loved and WAS deeply loved by his family and many friends. Jim is survived by is "high school sweetheart" wife of 48 years, Rayni. His legacy lives on in children Ryan (Katie) Wangen Amy (Matt) Edwards Janae (Jason) Cornett all of Tri-Cities "Bonus" son, Chris Silva of Boise, ID. His precious grandchildren: Terrell, Micah, Ashlyn, Carter, Stellan, Tehya, Alicia, Lily, Caden and Liam. Jim's siblings: Jeanne McGill, Meridian, Id, Mary (Max) Steinbach, Meridian, Id, Rob Wangen, Pheonix, AZ, Paula (Loyal) Sayles, Boise, Becky (Roger) Leonard, Filer, Id. Sister and Brother-in-law, Jeannie & Wayne Stroud, Boise, Id, as well as many nieces, nephews. He was preceded in death by his Father and Mother, Al and Emma Wangen of Boise. Jim was multi-talented, a loving, quiet man, with a ZANY sense of humor and determined WILL that stayed to the end. He and Rayni (Balfour) married in 1966 in Boise, Id. His college days at Boise State College ended with a "draft" into the Vietnam War in 1968. He was proud of sharing his birthday with D-Day, and proud to be among the 101st Airborne, Army, "The Screaming Eagles" serving two years, before an honorable discharge. Jim and Rayni became PROUD parents in 1971 with son Ryan's arrival, followed by Amy in 1974 and Janae in 1983. His career with New York Life Ins. began in 1973, Lewiston, Id., followed by a move to Kennewick in 1975 to be in Management. He excelled greatly in his job until many health set-backs brought him to retirement in 1994. Following this he found a new Hobby: a Real talent for and LOVE of Landscaping, and brought beauty and joy to many. Through the years, Jim was an accomplished pianist, an artist, a soldier, a Financial Advisor, Jogger, Landscaper, and MOST of all, a "Survivor"! He mentored, encouraged and inspired both young and old. In Retirement, he greatly enjoyed times with Family and especially his GRANDKIDS! Jim had a deep, quiet love for the Lord and found great comfort in God's Word, in teaching Sunday School classes at church and as a Leader in "Bible Study Fellowship". Jim's uncomplaining "pushing on" made him a living illustration of Hebrews 12:1, "Let us run with Perseverance the race marked out for us." Celebration of Jim's Life will be on Friday, Nov. 21 at 11:00 a.m. at South Hills Church in Kennewick. Please come to hear "the rest of the story"!
