Jerry Hatch Wamsley, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and lifelong disciple of Jesus Christ, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025, at the age of 77.
He was born on February 10, 1948, in Coalville, Utah, and grew up in the small town of Randolph, Utah with a loving family. Jerry was the second of four children including an older sister and two younger brothers.
Jerry served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Guatemala and El Salvador, a formative experience that helped shape his lifelong commitment to the Savior. He also served honorably in the Wyoming National Guard.
On September 13, 1973, Jerry married Diane Brewer, his sweetheart and love of his life. Their marriage was built on commitment, faith, and unwavering devotion. Together, they raised a family of six children rooted in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and filled with lasting joy. He was incredibly proud of his children and grandchildren and their accomplishments.
After earning a bachelor's degree in accounting from Utah State University, Jerry began his professional career in Salt Lake City, Utah. In 1979, he and his growing family moved to the top of a desert hill in Pasco, Washington, where they would build a home full of warmth, faith, and laughter. Jerry was well known for his wonderful sense of humor as everyone who knew him has a story of something especially funny he said or how he made everyone laugh.
Jerry was a dedicated and loving husband and father, taking special care of his son with special needs with remarkable compassion. He gave freely of his time and talents in service to the Lord and his community, serving faithfully in various leadership callings within the Pasco Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints including multiple Bishoprics as Counselor and Bishop, High Councilman, Counselor in the Stake Presidency, Regional Finance Auditor and Temple Coordinator. Outside of his church and family responsibilities, Jerry enjoyed woodworking and photography, hobbies that reflected his eye for detail and his passion for creating meaningful things with his hands.
Jerry's life was one of service, sacrifice, and enduring love. He leaves behind a legacy of faith and devotion that will continue to inspire all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Diane Wamsley, brothers Jay Wamsley and Hal Wamsley, children Ryan Wamsley, Andrew Wamsley, Robert Wamsley, John Wamsley, Melinda Riggs, Justin Wamsley and 18 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at the Parley Building in Pasco, Washington. The viewing will begin at 12:30pm with the funeral service beginning at 2pm. All who knew and loved Jerry are welcome to attend and honor the life of this remarkable man.
