Jean Kendrick Kostoff, 78 of the Columbia Basin, passed away June 17, 2012 of natural causes. Jean was born June 7, 1934 in Logan, Utah to Nevear and Elva Kendrick. She spent her childhood in Cache Valley, Utah with her two older brothers, Mel and John and younger sister, Julia. As a youth, she worked at a local dress factory where she learned to sew and press dresses, a skill she applied to the rest of her life, making outfits for her daughters and their dolls. She met and married Nako Kotoff in 1953 in Trenton, UT. They moved to the Columbia Basin in 1956 and settled on a farm where they were most known for their cantaloupe and watermelon. She had three children, Nick, Donna and JoAnna. Jean was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed crocheting, painting, sewing, quilting, doll making and was an avid shopper of QVC. She also enjoyed traveling and visited many parts of the world. She loved flower gardening and schnauzers and had many of both throughout her life. She was survived by Nick and Laurie Kostoff of Harrigton, WA, Donna Goude of Kennewick, WA, and JoAnna and Mark Madsen of La Grande, OR, sisters-in-law Parma Kendrick and Mae Kendrick of Logan, UT and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nako, her three siblings, and son-in-law, Brian Goude. A viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Thursday June 21, 2012 at the LDS Chapel on Union St. in Kennewick. A viewing and graveside service will be held in Trenton, UT on Saturday.
