Born Jean Calder on September 12, 1936 in Twin Falls, Idaho; died August 13, 2018 at Chaplaincy Hospice House in Kennewick at age 81. She is now with her Lord! Jean moved with her family to Outlook in 1947. She attended high school at Grainger. She married Donald Weaver in 1956. They had 2 daughters, Nancy and Cheryl. After a divorce, Jean moved to Yakima where she worked at the hospital in the nursery. She met and married Nick Garcia. They became proud parents of their boy, Diano, in 1967. They soon relocated to Federal Way. Jean and Nick loved to host large family dinners. Jean was known for her relish tray and secret recipe apple pie. The holiday brought out her popcorn balls, candy cane cookies and million-dollar fudge. She always loved her outdoor flowers and indoor plants. Her natural ability to make floral arrangements was done with great pleasure. She raised her children as a stay at home mom. In later years she moved to her mother's home north of Poulsbo, Washington. She enjoyed a peaceful time there with a large yard in a quiet neighborhood with her view of Hood Canal. In 2012, she moved to Lopez Island to spend 2 years with her two granddaughters, Naima and Atavia Garcia. Then, due to failing health, she came to Kennewick to live by her daughter. Guess what? Her studio apartment is full of house plants! She is survived by her children; Nancy and Paul Gilbertson of Camano Island; Cheryl and Terris Hanenburg of Kennewick and Diano and Marjorie from Lopez Island. Her beloved step children, Annette and Richard Saenz of Kennewick; Nick and Dee Garcia in Federal Way and Andrea and Dan Omen in Kennewick. She is survived by 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Her big brother, Jim Calder of Poulsbo, sisters Joy Gregg and Jewel and Wilson Leak both in Kennewick. Also, a group of seven Greggs, Calder and McDonald nephews. There will be a viewing Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 5-8 PM at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home at 1401 S. Union Street, Kennewick. The graveside service will be Friday, August 17, 2018 at 2 PM at Zillah City Cemetery at 100 First Avenue, Zillah.
