Jan Rudeloff Beaujon III (Jack) passed away on April 30, 2025, on his 73rd birthday. Jack lived his life with a hopeful pragmatism and a steadfast belief in the power of hard work. In this way he battled cancer, dementia, and a chronic lung condition for many years - maintaining as much of his health for as long as he could until the toll on his body became too great. A committed, deeply loving, and sacrificial husband and father to the end, he held onto life until all of his children could be with him one last time.

Jack was born in Ithaca, NY on April 30, 1952 to Jan R Beaujon II (Rudy), and Florence (Jessup) Beaujon. At age 3, his family moved to Cincinnati, OH and grew to include 5 more children. From early on Jack loved learning - gathering facts and information through experiences and adventures. He spent a couple of summers at his aunt and uncle's house on Long Island exploring, working hard around the property, and absorbing lessons about life and unconditional love from his beloved Aunt Nan. He remembered those summers very fondly for the rest of his life.

Jack attended Washington State University and graduated in 1975 with a Master's in Wildlife Biology. He loved being a "Coug" and took great pride in his alma mater. At WSU Jack met and married his wife of 51 years, Betsy.

Jack and Betsy lived in Yakima, WA, The Dalles, OR and Kennewick, WA for the first 10 years of their marriage, where they grew their family to include a son, Matthew, and daughter, Sarah. In 1985 Jack was commissioned in the US Navy as an Environmental Health Officer in the Navy Medical Corps. They moved to Great Lakes, IL for officer training where they added another daughter, Megan, to the family. From there they embarked on a 23-year adventure across the United States and into the Caribbean and Europe. Jack loved being in the Navy and thrived on the constant opportunities to connect with new people and new places, learning and adding to his wealth of facts and information at each new duty station. While in the Navy, Jack earned a Master's in Public Health, many awards and commendations, and rose to the rank of Commander. He retired in 2008 and he and Betsy moved back to Eastern Washington, settling in Kennewick.

After the Navy, Jack went back to his wildlife biology roots, working for the US Department of Fish and Wildlife. He enjoyed being out in nature and relished yet again the opportunity to learn a new job with new people.

Jack showed his love to friends and family through sacrificial acts of service. He stayed involved in his kids' lives as they grew up by coaching sports, helping with school work, teaching life skills, and many outdoor adventures. He was also a committed, active member and leader in each church community the family settled in as they moved around. Jack will be remembered for his unshakable positivity, friendliness, love of the outdoors, spirit of adventure, and for being a thorough repository of little-known, well-researched facts.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents and his brother George Beaujon. He is survived and deeply missed by his wife Betsy (Hoggarth) Beaujon, his three children - Matthew Beaujon (Sara), Sarah Le (Vincent), and Megan Beaujon, his four grandchildren Noah, Axel, Coby, and Ellery, his siblings, Peter Beaujon, James Beaujon, Nancy Beaujon, and Mary Kenter (Tom), and many-many family and friends who were touched by his curiosity, zest for life, and outgoing personality.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at Kennewick First Presbyterian Church, 2001 W Kennewick Ave, Kennewick, WA 99336. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the National Parks Foundation or toward Alzheimer's research.
