James E. Sall passed away at The Life Care Center of Richland on November 9, 2011. He was born April 20, 1929 in Holdrege, Nebraska to Roy and Dorothea Sall. In 1944 he moved to Washington with his parents and in 1947 he graduated from Puyallup High School. On Valentine?s Day 1948, he married Doris Clerget of Sumner. Later that year they moved to Pasco, Washington where he owned and operated Husky and Richfield service stations. That same year they started raising their family. From the late fifties to early sixties he sold cars and automotive parts and worked as a bartender. In the early sixties he apprenticed as a carpenter, working with his father, Roy. Over the next twenty-five years he built homes in and around Pasco, first with his father and later with his sons Douglas and Gary as he taught them the trade. He and Mom were married for 58 years when she passed away in December 2006. He is survived by his children: son James Jr. Judy, daughter Susan Cooper, son Douglas Cindy, daughter-in-law Barbara, 11 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Doris, his son-in-law Gary Cooper, and his son Gary. As a young man he was an avid hunter, fisherman and bowler. When his children were young, he and Mom used to spend their summers picnicking and camping, either in the mountains or at the seashore. As Grandpa got older he loved cruising around Pasco in his trucks and van, always as slow as possible and never downshifting. He also enjoyed reading western books and watching old movies and TV shows. Above all, he loved his family. He always declared that Thanksgiving was his favorite holiday because there was no obligation associated with it, just the opportunity to get together and enjoy his children and grandchildren.
