With gratitude for a life well lived, we celebrate James David Mirus, who passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of family, on August 30, 2026, in Kennewick, Washington, at the age of 79. Born on January 8, 1947, in Pasco, Washington, Jim grew up in the family home along the river, where many days were spent swimming and water skiing on the Columbia River. He attended St. Patrick Catholic School through the eighth grade and later graduated from Pasco High School. Jim built a career he took great pride in as a dedicated tradesman. He joined Ironworkers Local 14 on November 1, 1979, and in those early union years, his work took him wherever the job was. In October 1990, he joined Lampson International, where he remained for more than 19 years. That role allowed him to stay close to home with family, build a meaningful career, and work alongside a crew he respected deeply. He retired as shop foreman in May 2009. Jim also wanted to share his thanks to Lampson for being an incredible company, and to the men he worked with and respected, as well as the Local 14 Ironworkers union. In his early adult years, Jim gave his time to the community as an active member of the Pasco Jaycees, where he formed lifelong friendships through service. He was also an avid skier and a member of the Desert Ski Club, where he made lasting memories and truly had a blast. Jim is survived by his children, Brent (Diana) Mirus, Ryan Mirus, Jamie (Jamie) Mirus, Jon (Jawn-Michelle) Mirus, and Elizabeth Small; his grandchildren, Corey (Emily) Mirus, Justin Mirus, Amanda (Andre) De Castro, Bailee Mirus, Breann (Jose) Cisneros, Conner (Chloe) Mirus, and Karissa Mirus; six great-grandchildren; his brother, John (Suzie) Mirus; his sister, Lynnie (Blaine) Lindgren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter “Ike” and Jean M. (Clancy) Mirus, and his brother, Mick Mirus. A graveside service will be held Saturday 11:00am, October 3, 2026, at City View Cemetery, 1300 N. Oregon Ave, Pasco, Wa. A Celebration of Life will follow from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Zintel Creek Golf Course, 314 N. Underwood St, Kennewick, Wa. Jim’s life will be remembered with appreciation for the work he did, the friendships he built, The Father he was and the many good times shared along the way.
