Obituary

James "Jim" R. Galloway passed away on October 20, 2026, at the age of 86.

Born on September 18, 1940, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, to George and Alice Galloway, Jim moved with his family to Delano in the 1940s. He graduated from Delano Joint Union High School in 1958 and spent his younger years working at his father’s auto body shop. Jim then joined the Navy, an opportunity that allowed him to travel and see the world, during which time he met the love of his life, Joyce.

In 1978, Jim and Joyce relocated their family to Kennewick for a better life. He built a career as a Journeyman meat cutter for Albertsons, retiring in 1998, and was highly regarded by both his coworkers and customers.

Jim’s greatest joy was his family, and he always looked forward to dinners, BBQs, hunting, fishing, or simply hanging out together. After his wife Joyce passed away, he found a new passion in his Dale Earnhardt yellow 1949 Chevy Fleetline. He loved spending time with his car club buddies, participating in car shows, and winning awards.

Jim is preceded in death by his wife Joyce, his parents George and Alice Galloway, and his sisters Betty Jo Budwee and Carolyn Fisher.

He is survived by his children, Kurt Galloway and Shelly Sainsbury (and her husband Monte); his four grandchildren, Blake Galloway (and Savannah), Jacob Sainsbury, Justin Galloway (and Ashly), and Tyler Sainsbury; and his granddaughter, Violet.

A graveside service will be held at Desert Lawn Memorial Park on October 29th at 1:00 PM.
