Obituary

James Kenneth Fish passed away on Saturday November 11, 2023. He was born June 14th (Flag Day) 1947 in Spokane, Washington to Dale and Edna Fish and an older brother Dale. When Jim was about two years old, they lived in Wallace, Idaho. Jets would fly over the house, and he would run to hide under the bed. At four years old, they were living in Spokane, Washington and his brother John was born.

Jim graduated from Ferris High School in 1966. October 15, 1967, he married his high school sweetheart Lola Jean Ytreeide, and they moved to Pasco, Washington. He attended Columbia Basin College and received his associate degree and then began work at McDonnell Dougles in 1969. Two children were born to Jim and Lola; a son Michael in 1969 and daughter Tamberly in 1971. Jim and Lola joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1977. He was a faithful member and served in many capacities, including teacher, bishopric counselor, Bishop, high councilor, and temple worker. He continued to work in the Hanford area and also earned his bachelor's degree. In 2003 he worked as a facilities manager for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints until retirement in 2022.

Although Jim's last name was Fish and he loved fishing, all knew that his passion was flying. At 16 he received his pilot's license. After 50 years and 20,000 hours of flying, he received the Wright Brother's Master Pilot Award in 2016. The award is a high recognition for pilots who have practiced safe flight operations continuously for 50 or more years during the course of their aviation career. Jim was a Gold Seal Instructor, CFII, MEI and an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner. He touched many lives with his love of flying and he held all students to the highest standards.

Jim is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lola; son Michael (Jill) grandson Kade, granddaughter Hannah; daughter Tamberly granddaughter McKenzi; brothers Dale (Gayleen) and John (Terry); countless nieces and nephews.

Fly high Jim.
