Jackie Wayne Jones Sr. passed away July 27, 2011; the day of his mothers birth. He was born in Mobile, Alabama, on December 22, 1947 to Jewell Melinda Morrell Jones and Frank Lester Jones. Jackie joined the Job Corps at age 14 and remained involved until his arrival in Cashmere WA where he joined his family. He met and married Karla Ann Johnson and upon moving to the Seattle area had his first child Monica Rae Jones. Jackie worked as an electrical apprentice for Todd Shipyards. In 1972, he returned to Cashmere and began working for Cascade Cable learning the trade that he would continue for the rest of his career. In 1975, he accepted a position with GTE in Kennewick where he worked as a Trouble Shooter. Jackie met and fell in love with Diana Lynn Etheridge that same year. The two married in 1977, making Kennewick their permanent home. Jackie Wayne Jones, Jr., the first of two sons was born in 1978, followed by the birth of their second son Tyson James Jones in 1985. Jackie continued to work for GTE/Verizon for 33 years. He retired in April 2009, offering more time to expand on his cooking talents and his passion for gardening. Jackie was loved by many for his generosity and kindness. He was great man with an even greater heart! He never met a stranger. He and Monica shared a special Father/Daughter bond. He proudly cheered her on in each of her life's endeavors. He dearly enjoyed his first grand-daughter Jewell's passion for dance and his second grand-daughter Emma's homemade biscuits. He loved watching his boys play baseball and hockey, he rarely missed a game. You always knew when a Jones boy was playing because Jackie had the loudest, most supportive voice in the crowd. Thanks to his mother's influence, he enjoyed preparing his favorite dishes to share with friends at his favorite hangouts. His many friends looked forward with anticipation as to his next culinary surprise. Always looking out for the underdog, Jackie would cook dinner on Thanksgiving, pack it up, and head with his family to the railroad tracks where he would share with those less fortunate than he, showing compassion to those who rarely experienced it. Camping and fishing with his wife offered him much joy. Jackie Wayne Jones is loved by many and will be missed by all who were fortunate in knowing him. Jackie is survived by his wife Diana, his daughter Monica Greedy and two grandchildren Jewell and Emma of Wenatchee, his sons Jackie Jr., and Tyson both of Kennewick; his mother Jewell and step-father Jim Bartosh both of Cashmere; his siblings, Patricia Miller and Frankie Jones of East Wenatchee; Nancy Long of Fairbanks AK; Johnny Jones of Cashmere. Celebration Services to be held at Mueller's Chapel of The Falls on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Please bring your memories of Jackie with you to share!
