"Jack" James G. Owens "Just Passing Through" Jack was born and lived for a few years in Bismarck, ND. His family moved to Pasco, WA, where he grew up until age 14, when Jack left to live with his mom in Portland for a short time, returning to Bismarck at 16 where he lived with his grandma Senger. Jack attended St. Mary's School, there he played football until he graduated in 1954. Shortly after, Jack enlisted and served in the U.S. Army, 101st Airborne, during the Korean War, and was honorably discharged with Korean Service Medal; Presidential Unit Citation; ROK Presidential Unit Citation and the National Defense Service Medal. Jack's life was full of adventure from racing cars, driving semi's, scuba diving, deep sea fishing, to being a pro golfer. Jack's passions ranged from the love of painting, where he is a recognized artist , his 1976 Corvette, Collecting and showing of antique cars, to being #1 salesman for over 15 years at Russ Dean, Pasco, WA, and 5 years at Lewiston RV. Jack was loved by many, beginning with Kathy Owens who he has three surviving children with, Dana Rogers, Tami Goodell, Joey Owens, who miss him deeply, as well as his 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. His older brother, Retired Naval Admiral Ron Owens of the USS Texas, his sisters Gloria Mitts, Vicki Baker, Sheryl Orr, Geneva Rose, Irene Simons, Donna and Rita. Also his wonderful nieces and nephews, as well as his adopted daughter Linda Rhine Nelson and his forever loving him girlfriend Susan Gallaugher. Services will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2017 promptly at 1:30 pm at: Washington State Veterans Cemetery, 21702 Espanola Road, Medical Lake, Washington 99022 Phone (509) 299-6280 Fax: (509) 299-6286 He will receive his Honors by the VFW or American Legion. The family asks any donations be payable to his daughter Dana Rogers at 700 N. Road 32 Trlr 227, Pasco, WA 99301 (208) 790-7829, they will be used for his service related expenses and the remainder the family will donate to the VFW, the American Legion and Families of Veterans, so that other families can get help like we did.
