Jack W. Hiller went to be with the Lord on the evening of October 18, 2012 at the age of 88 years. He was born at home in Kingston, Washington on May 16, 1924. Graduated from North Kitsap High School on May 28, 1942. Drafted and served in the Army from August 4, 1943 to February 5, 1946. He served initially in the horse cavalry in Fort Riley, Kansas where he was the company bugler. He later served in the 20th Armored Division as a tank mechanic traveling through Europe during WWII. He had many stories and memories about his time in the military, and several of his grandchildren have interviewed him over the years for their class projects about WWII. After the war, he attended Simpson Bible College from 1946 to 1949 in preparation for the ministry. He married Patricia P. Robinson in July 23, 1949, and together they raised six children. He was the pastor at churches in: Cottonwood Creek, Idaho; Ellensburg, Washington; Irondale, Washington; Dallas, Oregon; and Everett, Washington. Then he spent 20 years in the Postal Service and retired from there in 1987. After a couple years of traveling (and not being a person to just sit around), they moved to Crystal Lake, Washington where he worked as the caretaker at that private living community. They later moved to Marysville and finally moved to Kennewick, Washington in 2005. He was preceded in death by his parents Jacob and Mary Hiller, brother Robert Hiller, and sister Katherine Ramstead. He is survived by his wife Patricia of 63 years, his sister Nancy Stageburg, his six children: Jacqueline Foxworthy; Steve and Lorena Hiller; Philip and Victoria Hiller; Aaron Hiller; Sarah and Dave Barr; James and Lisa Hiller, twenty grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. He will be buried in the Veteran's Unit at Desert Lawn Memorial Park and there will be a memorial service at Grace United Reformed Church, 2500 W 4th Ave, Kennewick, WA on October 27th at 1:00. In lieu of flowers or other memorials, donations can be sent in remembrance of him to Simpson University, 2211 College View Drive, Redding, CA 96003.
