Irmgard McKean, a native of Germany who later founded a business in Kennewick, died Saturday, February 2. She was 83. A diabetic, Irmgard had been in and out of hospitals in recent weeks, and died of liver and kidney failure at a Kennewick hospice. She was born Irmgard Kern on Nov. 7, 1935, in Munich. She was married in Munich on May 5, 1959, to Gary McKean, a U.S. soldier stationed in Germany. After her husband finished military duty, the newlyweds lived in western Washington for a few years before moving to Kennewick in the early 1960s. Irmgard worked as a bookkeeper and later started the "Let's Party" supply store in Kennewick. Irmgard is survived by her husband Gary, who owned a landscaping company; two children, Bruce McKean of Gig Harbor, Washington, and Tanya McKean of Kennewick; five grandchildren and one great grandchild. Upon retirement, the McKeans traveled the country in their motor home and spent several winters in Yuma, Arizona. The Rosary will be Thursday, February 14, 2019 at 6:00 PM at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home. The Mass is Friday, February 15 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church followed by burial at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
