Inez Brough Peterson passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2015 in her home near Basin City, Washington from complications incident to age. Inez was born in Ucon, Idaho October 26, 1919 to Gilbert Snowball Brough and Lillian Camelia Groom. In 1921 when her father died, she was sent to live with here maternal grandparents, Nathan and Mary Caroline Groom in Garfield, Idaho where she spent her youth. She loved being with her grandparents and called them mother and dad. The active toddler quickly became her grandfather's shadow on the farm. She attended grade school and high school in Ucon, Idaho and graduated in 1938 excelling in music, literature, writing, and debate. During her last two years of high school she worked at the candy counter in Woolworths. She met the love of her life, Vaughn J. Peterson while attending dances in the Idaho Falls, Idaho area. They married just prior to World War II and left for California where Vaughn worked as a carpenter building military training encampments. After two years they returned to Idaho and farmed in Ucon until 1972. All six of their children were born in Idaho Falls. Her life was filled with service to others, first to her husband and family and then through callings in the LDS church where she loved working with the youth. She also devoted many hours to temple attendance. She managed the lady's wear department at the Idaho Falls Sears department store for over 10 years. Vaughn and Inez purchased a farm and moved to Basin City, Washington in 1972. Once again her life was filled with service including many years of traveling monthly to the Seattle Washington Temple to serve as an ordinance worker. Inez is survived by five children: Karen (Steven) Benzley, Mary Diane Sanger, Ryan B. (Sandy) Peterson, Ralph Samuel (Dale) Peterson, and Jon Randy (Sandy) Peterson, 28 grandchildren, and 102 great grandchildren.
