Howard L. Mountain Howard L. Mountain passed away on Friday, September 9th in Kennewick, WA at the age of 87. Howard was born in Clyde, North Dakota on May 5th, 1929 to Wilfred and Lyla (Keeling) Mountain. He was the 2nd of seven children. Howard was preceded in death by his wife Jean Ann (Eller) Mountain, his parents, brother Donald Mountain, and sisters Eileen Dahl, Marlys Hendrickson, and Shirley Vooge. Howard married his sweetheart, Jean Ann Eller, in Rocklake North Dakota while home on leave in June of 1951. She returned with him, to his army base in Camp Rucker, Alabama. Their first child Retta, was born there. They moved to Pasco in the winter of 1953 where their son John was born in January 1954. Howard worked for the Pasco School District for 30 years, primarily as a school bus mechanic. Howard and Jean were married for 60 years and one week. They loved to dance and others would stop just to watch them. He repeatedly said if they had a dollar for every mile they danced, they'd be rich. They were rich though in the love each had for the other. They also loved camping and fishing and had an amazing group of friends that enjoyed those activities with them. Howard is survived by his daughter Retta Winebarger, son John (wife Debbie), grandchildren; Cody (Angela) Mountain, Jarra (Cade) Scott, Branden Winebarger and Maren (Ben) Boucher. His great grandchildren are Lilly Mountain, Crete and Cyson Scott, and Chloe and Mya Boucher. He is also survived by sister Elsie Hendrickson and brother Kenneth Mountain, and well as many nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, September 16th, 2:00 PM at Mueller Greenlee Funeral Home, 1608 W. Court Street, in Pasco.
