Howard Eugene Mackenstadt was born on September 20, 1930 in Spokane, WA to Herbert and Tressa Mackenstadt. After high school he went to trade school to become a printer and spent two years in the army and served in the Korean war. On return from the Army, Howard married the love of his life, Leona (Simmelink) Mackenstadt. He had a career as a Printer, highlighted by owning Meverden Press. Howard was survived by his four children, Jon Mackenstadt (Annette), Su Mayfield (Craig), Jan Rhodes (Dusty), Rob Mackenstandt (Nancy), and their other brother Mark McIntyre (Kim). Howard was a member of the Pasco-Kennewick Rotary Club for 53 years, 27 of which he had perfect attendance, and played the piano for all of them. Rotary and music were the passions of his life. Howard began playing piano at the age of 6 and continued throughout his life. Though he was unable to read music, he was able to play any song by ear and loved to perform for various groups. He especially loved Dixieland Jazz and enjoyed traveling to festivals around the nation with his brother Bob, sister-in-law Jo, and his wife Leona. They had matching motor homes and their camping trips took them to 48 states. In addition to playing piano and Rotary, he was a sun worshiper, and boasted no tan lines. Howard was preceded in death by his wife Leona, parents, and his brother Bob. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Pasco Kennewick Rotary Charitable Trust (P.O.
