Obituary

Herbert Stanley Zunker II, age 65, of Finley, Washington, passed away on April 15, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on August 18, 1959, in Pasco, Washington Herbert lived a life defined by strength, resilience, and deep passion.

At the age of 17, Herbert began his lifelong battle starting with his diagnosis with Lupus—yet he never gave up. In 2003, he received a life-saving kidney donation from his sister-in-law, Toni Zunker allowing his Lupus to go into remission and giving him a second chance at life (Thank you Chuck). Over the last seven years, he continued to defy all odds, proving time and again that miracles do happen.

Herbert shared a beautiful life full of love and adventure with his devoted wife, Janelle. Together, they traveled on cruises, made memories in Las Vegas (always rolling the dice and betting on red), and filled their days with laughter and joy.

He followed two lifelong passions: arm wrestling, and his deepest love—woodworking. His craftsmanship and creativity touched many, and his warm spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, Herb and Leila Zunker; his brother Beau; and his two infant sisters. He is survived by his loving wife, Janelle; his children Drew McGlothlin (Heidi McGlothlin), Danilynn Toews (Hunter Toews), and Ivee Deleon; and his five cherished grandchildren: Wylin, Logan, Daniel, Dalylah-Rose, and Leo. He also leaves behind his brothers Larry (Debbi) Zunker, Buzzy (Toni) Zunker, Lex (Leslie) Zunker, and Leiton Zunker, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Known for his generous heart and sense of humor, Herbert would give the shirt off his back to someone in need. He had a special place in his heart for animals and shared his unconditional love with every furry friend he met. (always telling his family and friends to use rubber hooks and bullets)
