Henry C. Scheel Sr., 95, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2010. Henry Hank was born to Henry Carl Scheel and Sophia Schmidt Scheel in Astoria, Oregon on November 16, 1915. He attended schools in Astoria, OR, Minnesota, and Michigan. His early years he learned his Sheet Metal trade in the shipyards during WWII. He married his first wife, Marie Lynch in 1939 and they had five children. He worked at the Hanford Site in the late 1940's through the 1950's as a project steward and an officer of the SMWIA local 242. He worked in CA, OR, WA, NV, AL, FFTF and WPPSS projects in the sheet metal trade until retirement. He married Katherine "Kay" Siller in 1968 and they remained together until her death in 2005. After retiring in 1979, he and Kay traveled around the world, walked the Great Wall of China, and spent time in Portugal, Spain, Australia, New Zealand and Mexico. He loved history and reading. Hank was preceded in death by his parents, wife Kay, niece Diane, son-in-law Doug Mills, and grandson Jimmy Hayden. He is survived by his sister Betty, nieces Dottie Dale and Darlene of San Diego, California; his five children, Jeanene Timms, Henry C. "Charlie" Scheel Jr Janet, Thomas Scheel Bev and Denise Mills, all reside in Pasco or Kennewick, and Carol Hayden from Yuma, Arizona; his grandchildren respectively: Theresa; Michael and Bernadette; Shelly, Nikki, and Colleen; Dena and Danny; and Marlie Ann and Sean; as well as 18 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him and loved him. There will be a Memorial Service to honor his life on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 2:00pm at the Moose Lodge, 2617 W. Sylvester, Pasco, WA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his name to Hospice, 2108 W. Entiat Ave., Kennewick, WA. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Hawthorne Court for the friendship and loving care they gave Henry.
