Helen L Pines
February 4, 1941 – October 1, 2025
Born in Newark, New Jersey, Helen spent her early years in Eaton Town, New Jersey.
After graduating from High School, Helen was pursuing a nursing career when she met an Army soldier by the name of Alvin Pines (known as "Billy" to some). The couple soon married and traveled the world. While in Taiwan they welcomed their first son Alvin Jr followed by their second son Lawrence while stationed in Ethiopia. The military family moved back to the US and eventually settled in Arizona where they had their daughter, Catherine.
Searching for better job opportunities, the family relocated to Washington State. Helen earned her Nursing degree and worked several years at Our Lady of Lourdes Emergency department as an RN. Unfortunately, her health began to fail, and the marriage fell apart. Despite it all, Helen remained a positive, strong, devoted Christian mother and a friend to many.
She eventually retired from nursing but never slowed down. She was an active member of her church Word of Faith and loved to volunteer. Other interests included gardening, minor home improvement projects, crocheting or just being with friends and family.
Much to our sorrow, God called her home to his Kingdom where she will be reunited with her son Alvin Jr, ex-husband Alvin Sr., Father Lawrence Stafford, Mother Hattie Stafford and Brother Franky.
She is dearly missed by her daughter Catherine, son Lawrence, daughter-in-law Yulia, her beautiful granddaughters, extended family members and close friends.
