Obituary

Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Helen Agnes Buechler, age 86 of Richland, Washington, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on October 8th, 2012. She was born July 1st, 1926 in Omaha, Nebraska. She was an only child and spent her childhood in Nebraska, Minnesota, Florida and Washington. She met her husband, Peter Buechler, in Grandview, Washington. They dated several months before WWII. When he was called to war, Helen walked Peter to the train station. When he returned to Grandview after the war, they were married and owned a bakery in Naches, Washington. They raised eight children and lost a baby boy at two weeks old. The family spent the remainder of their years in the Tri-Cities. Helen was a devout Catholic and a VFW Chaplain. She made her family very proud when she went back to school at age 39 to get her GED and Nursing Degree. She loved her nursing profession and enjoyed working for Dr. Kohan and Kennewick General Hospital. Helen had a huge, beautiful smile for everyone who entered her life. She had a quirky sense of humor that always made her family and caretakers smile. Her family is so grateful to the many that cared for her. Family members, Dr. Kohan, the staff at Richland Gardens, thank you for loving our sweet angel. We will miss our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother immensely. Helen is survived by children Diane Moon (Dennis), Paul Buechler (Jan), Don Buechler (Terry), Sue Moyer (Gary), Neil Buechler (Karla Cavasoz), Bev Hamre (Dave), Bill Buechler (Balinda), and Ken Buechler (Debbie); 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, October 15, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 520 S. Garfield St in Kennewick, with inurnment to follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
